Communities is a new content series from Avant Arte that showcases hidden artistic communities from around the world.

For our first episode, we visited Shigaraki Village, one of the most notable producers of ceramics in Japan with a history dating back nearly 800 years.

The community was introduced to us by one of Japan's rising stars in the global art world, En Iwamura, who is helping to encourage a new generation of young artists to keep Japan's rich and unique cultural tradition alive.
