Russian 'Korobkas,' meaning 'cages,' were created by the Soviets to provide sporting venues for massive housing blocks in the 1960’s. In winter, they are used for ice hockey, but for the rest of the year, they host a unique style of football.
We launched a campaign to champion this distinctive style of the game and to showcase the true face of Russian football to the world.
Russian rapper L'One created the rebel soundtrack of the korobka movement, shared it on itunes to over a million listeners.
We recruited on over 1000 Korobkas. Over 7000 players signed up across the 10 districts of Moscow.
